Cheers all round as championed charity secures three-year grant

A local charity is feeling relieved after securing a further three years of funding from the Big Lottery Fund.

Home-Start Goole & District, which is based within The Courtyard in Goole, were thrilled to be awarded the money, which will mean they can afford to operate for the next three years.

The charity delivers regular support and practical help to families in need in Goole, Old Goole and the surrounding areas. Its team of volunteers visit families in their own homes once a week to provide support and friendship, as well as organising activities for all the families and volunteers to attend.
The aim of the organisation is to strengthen and empower local families and achieve lasting improvement and change so that families can eventually find their own way through difficulties and challenges.

Angie Bailey, Organiser at Home-Start Goole & District, said: “The scheme would have closed without this funding, so we are all relieved that we can continue to support families in and around Goole.”

The charity has also recently received a separate grant of £250 from the Goole & District Community Fund which will go towards the cost of running an exciting coach trip for all families and volunteers involved in the organisation.
