Do you recognise these men? Spate of plant equipment thefts cause concern

Officers investigating the theft of a steamroller from a firm in Bridge Street, Goole, have released CCTV stills of two men they wish to speak to in connection with the incident.

It is one of a number of similar recent offences in Goole and the wider East Riding area currently being investigated.

This latest theft is said to have happened between 5.30pm and 5.45pm on Monday, April 18, when two men in a white Ford Transit van with a beacon light on the roof, drove into the yard.

A steamroller was then driven into the back of the van, before the van was driven away.

The first suspect is described as white, aged between 20 and 30, with short brown hair. He later put on a dark deer stalker-style hat and a high-vis jacket.

The second was also white, aged between 20 and 30, with dark brown hair, cut in a Mohican style. He wore black trousers, a white T-shirt and a dark zip-up top.

Anyone with information is asked to call 101, quoting crime reference number 2182255.

Following the recent incidents across East Yorkshire police are offering the following advice in connection with plant equipment security:

•  Small Plant equipment should be hidden out of view and stored within a secure container. This type of equipment should be registered onto www.immobilise.com with its make, model, serial number and description recorded.

• Larger plant equipment should be left secure and keys removed. They should be fitted with an immobiliser and a tracker.

• Ensure that were possible plant equipment is stored within a secure compound with suitable motion sensor CCTV and lighting.
