The CID department in Goole comprises two teams currently, who provide investigation cover for the town and surrounding areas 365 days of the year.
Local CID teams are a recent re-introduction by the new Chief Constable of Humberside Police, who recognises the benefits of having specialist investigators based in the communities they serve. Since the teams were introduced at Goole in the middle of May this year, they have been allocated nearly 200 serious investigations to investigate.
There are currently two Detective Constables, four Investigation Police Officers, and two Investigation Officers based at Goole as well as a Detective Sergeant. Together they deal with the more complex investigations including serious assaults, burglaries, drugs-supply offences, robberies, frauds and high-value thefts, as well as all domestic-related crimes where there is a risk of harm.
The CID teams at Goole have had some real successes over the last few months. Some of the incidents they have dealt with include:
• A Criminal Behaviour Order issued at court to a prolific domestic abuse perpetrator from Old Goole, requiring him to advise police every time he starts a new relationship so that safeguarding measures can be taken.
• A four year prison sentence for a prolific domestic abuse offender from Goole, who had subjected his partner to six years of physical and mental abuse.
• A charge and immediate remand into custody for a violent male who had caused life-changing injuries to an innocent party in a particularly nasty assault in Snaith.
Look out for more from the CID teams in future editions.
