The businesses who have made the shortlist for the Goole & Howdenshire Excellence Awards have been announced. The ceremony, which is celebrating its 10th year, honours the local business community with an award show taking place at Goole Academy on Friday 21st February.
Chairman of the organising committee, Garrey Haase, who first come up with the idea of launching the awards 10 years ago to celebrate the successes of businesses in the Goole and Howdenshire area, said: “We were hoping for a really high number of entries with it being the 10th anniversary of the awards and we were not disappointed.
“Our independent panel of judges had a really tough time whittling down the entries to come up with their shortlist; we’ve even introduced an additional award category for the self-employed and micro businesses because we had so many strong entries from businesses fitting that criteria. It’s a sign of just how many exciting new start-ups and micro businesses are being established and thriving locally.
“On behalf of the committee, I’d like to thank everyone who took the time to enter and thank our judges for their hard work going through the huge volume of entries. We’re now very much looking forward to finding out who the winners are at the 10th Goole and Howdenshire Business Excelence Awards ceremony in February!”
After winning ‘Contribution to the Community’ award last year, CreateTVT (producers of Our Goole) are delighted to be nominated for not one but two awards at this year’s ceremony.
Lisa Warrerner, director of Our Goole, said: “We are still so thrilled to have won the award last year, it was a huge achievement. However, to be nominated for the same award again and also ‘Small Business of the Year’ is amazing and just shows that we are continuing to put local businesses and the community at the forefront of everything we do.
“Just to be recognised as a shortlister for these two awards is brilliant, and here at Our Goole, we wish all the nominees good luck and cannot wait to see you all on the night.”
