Goole offender gets 18 weeks prison sentence

Elliott Coverdale, Goole, was jailed for 18 weeks following his Beverley Magistrate’s Court appearance via video link on Wednesday 27 March.

Detective Constable Sherman said, “He was arrested initially on Thursday 21 March following a report of anti-social behaviour.

“CCTV footage had shown him selling items out of a carrier bag outside The Jailhouse pub.  When we went to arrest him he made off on his bike but was detained by an off-duty police officer and arrested a short distance away.

“He was charged with two thefts from Tesco that had happened on 19 March and 21 March, two breaches of his Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO), one count of handling stolen goods and a public order offence. He was detained in a police car for the drive to custody and while he was in the back of the car smashed the rear side window.  He was subsequently charged with criminal damage for this too.

“Elliot Coverdale pleaded guilty to one shop theft, two breaches of CBO, and criminal damage, and was sentenced to 18 weeks in prison.”
