Helicopter crash victims taken to hospital

Five people have been seriously injured in a helicopter crash in Breighton, East Yorkshire.

Officers from Humberside police were alerted at 6.07pm on Sunday, July 17 to reports of a helicopter coming down at Breighton Airfield, near Selby.

Five men were hurt in the incident and were treated by paramedics on scene, with assistance from Humberside Fire Service. All five casualties were transported to hospital, two via air ambulance, one to Leeds General Hospital and the other to Hull Royal Infirmary. All five men are being treated for serious injuries, which are not thought to be life threatening.

Fire crews from Howden and Selby attended the scene and the Air Accident Investigation Branch (AAIB) will be carrying out a fully inquiry to establish what caused the crash.

It is reported the Aerodrome was hosting a ‘1940’s weekend’, featuring vintage vehicles and aircraft.
