April marks the 60th anniversary of the final closure of South Howden station and the Hull and Barnsley Railway. Howden Civic Society is commemorating this event with an exhibition.
Come to the Shire Hall between Saturday 20th and Monday 22nd April, where there will be opportunities to learn more about the former South Howden station. Events across the weekend include an exhibition about the station and the line, plus a film made by a train passing along the lines at the station.
Other opportunities include the chance to see an n-gauge reconstruction of the South Howden station and its goods yard, as well as a small collection of memorabilia about the railway.
On Saturday at 2pm, the event will host an illustrated talk about the history of the line.
Entry is free and the exhibition runs from 11am to 5pm each day.
