UPDATE: HUMBER BRIDGE NOW FULLY RE-OPENED FOLLOWING TRAFFIC COLLISION

Both lanes of the Humber Bridge have now re-opened (4.50pm).

At 2.47pm today, Wednesday, April 6, 2016 a lorry was blown over on to its side whilst travelling across the Humber Bridge northbound.

Due to the size of the lorry, in falling to the ground the lorry also knocked down a lamppost. The lamppost came to rest on the southbound carriageway of the Humber Bridge, causing major disruption.

No one was seriously injured during the incident, however due to the amount of debris, both lanes travelling north and southbound across the Humber Bridge were closed. The bridge had already been closed to high sided vehicles at the time of the incident.

Fire and Ambulance staff were in attendance.

At 4.20pm the southbound carriageway was re-opened, with the northbound carriageway cleared and re-opened by 4.50pm.
