Marie Curie is appealing for volunteers in Goole and the surrounding villages to take on key roles within a new fundraising committee.
Marie Curie are specifically looking for people who know their community well and can get people involved in local fundraising activities and yearly campaigns. The new local fundraising committee will meet in Goole on a monthly basis.
They also need to have good communication skills to be able to talk to people about Marie Curie and spread the word about what they do and how people can support them. Most of all, they need to be passionate about having fun while fundraising for Marie Curie.
Natalie Atherley, Marie Curie Community Fundraiser, told Our Goole: ‘We need people with a broad range of skills to help us with our local fundraising activities, from people with the gift of the gab right through to organisers who can come up with event ideas.
‘We also need as many Helper volunteers as possible to dedicate a small amount of their time visiting people with a terminal illness, offering companionship, emotional support and practical help with everyday tasks. So if you think you’ve got a couple of hours a month that you’d be able to give to support the local Marie Curie nursing service, please get in touch.’
Funds raised for Marie Curie allow people with a terminal illness to access high-quality nursing care in the comfort of their own homes for free.
Marie Curie helps people throughout their illness by giving practical information, support from trained volunteers and being there when someone wants to talk.
If you would like to get involved with the fundraising group or if you would like to find out more about Marie Curie and other ways you can support them, please contact Natalie Atherley on 01904 755260 or email natalie.atherley@mariecurie.org.uk.
