While they can be expensive, tradeshows are also a great opportunity to showcase your business, raise brand awareness and generate new leads. Not forgetting the all-important networking. However, you must do your research.
If possible, visit the show as an attendee first, speak to other exhibitors and visitors, and try and get an idea of which area has the best footfall. If you decide to go ahead, book early and you may get a discount.
Be clear about what it is that you want to achieve – is it raising your profile, making new contacts, generating new leads? Importantly – shout about the fact that you’re going to be there! Invite as many contacts as possible, and get the word out on social media.
Make sure your stand represents your business clearly and effectively. Keep it free from clutter and engage with everyone. Consider having a prize draw – ask people to give you their business cards and randomly select a winner. However, do remember to be careful when it comes to data capture – always ask permission to make contact after the event.
Remember to take photos and share them on social media. If you do make new contacts and have permission to follow up, strike while the iron is hot and start building that all-important rapport.
Finally, remember to measure success – did you meet your objectives and did you get a return on your investment? This will help you decide if it was worth it.
