Police were called at 9.22pm on the evening of Tuesday, June 21 reporting a theft at a building site on Airmyn Road, Goole.
A compressor had been stolen and was being taken away in a green Land Rover pick-up in convoy with a white Range Rover.
The Land Rover was quickly located following a collision on the slip road from Howden Spur onto the Ouse Bridge. Two people are believed to have abandoned the Land Rover and fled the scene on foot towards a nearby farm. The compressor was recovered.
Following extensive searches on the ground and with the police helicopter, one of the men was located.
The 21-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of conspiring to steal from another and drive a motor vehicle which had been taken without the owner’s consent. He has been released on police bail until a date in July, pending further enquiries.
Enquiries are still on-going in relation to the incident and locating the second man from the Land Rover and the Range Rover involved.
