New bereavement ‘walk and talk’ group for Goole

For any residents in the Goole area experiencing grief and bereavement and looking for local support, East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s Active Communities team are pleased to launch a new bereavement ‘walk and talk’ group in partnership with East Riding charity Talking About Loss

The group and volunteers, including Active Communities’ health and wellbeing coordinator Jez Hartley (pictured) will meet every third Monday of the month inside Goole Library at 6.15pm (for a 6.30pm start) for a series of relaxing and leisurely walks for anyone grieving the loss of a loved one. Participants will have the opportunity to talk and get support as they walk.

Speaking about the project, Jez said: “The group has been developed in response to local need in partnership with our social prescribers and other community partners in Goole. We encourage anyone who wants to share their story or who may be struggling with grief or a bereavement to come along and meet other people experiencing similar feelings and to get some friendly support from our volunteers and local charity Talking About Loss.”

There is no need to pre-book or register, just arrive 15 minutes before the start of the walk. Please wear comfortable shoes and dress for the weather. All walks will start and end at Goole Library and last no longer than one hour.

Come along to the next walk on Monday, 20 May at 6.30pm – meet at 6.15pm in the library.
