Outcome of misconduct hearing- Officer receives final written warning

Following a misconduct hearing held this week at Police Headquarters, PC Amanda Marrison has been issued with a Final Written Warning.

The officer faced six allegations amounting to a breach of the Standards of Professional Behaviour in respect of Duties & Responsibilities contrary to the Police (Conduct) Regulations 2012.  During the hearing PC Marrison admitted all the allegations of misconduct relating to the taking of unauthorised leave, failure to inform management of appointments and failure to maintain accurate records.

The officer admitted all six allegations as misconduct, however, the Independent Misconduct Panel considered that the breaches of the standards of professional behaviour were so serious to justify a finding of gross misconduct.

The finding of the Misconduct Panel was that the breaches of the Standards of Professional Behaviour were so serious to justify a finding of gross misconduct.

The mitigation given was considered and it was accepted that there were issues that contributed to the breaches being made.  However, there were procedures in place for the officer to report the matters and for support to be given.  It was accepted that the officer is a hardworking and dedicated officer and provides a valuable service to the community.  The officer was given a Final Written Warning.
