Plans in motion for 175 homes to be built in village

New homes could soon be built on fields in a local village if developers are given the go ahead by the council.

Gladman Developments Ltd are aiming to build up to 175 new houses on an eight-hectare site off Back Lane in Holme-on-Spalding-Moor. The company has requested advice from East Riding of Yorkshire Council ahead of submitting a formal planning application.

Stuart Carvel, senior planner for Gladman, has stated in a letter to the council that the site was already surrounded by housing to the north and west and that the new homes would be similar to those that already exist nearby.

Mr Carvel added that the land is currently in pastoral use and that before the development could begin, a number of buildings would have to be demolished.
The developers have argued that the site is not an environmentally sensitive one, and that it is within walking distance of a range of services and several bus stops making it a good location for homes to be built.

A play area has also been proposed as part of the development. If the planning application is submitted and accepted, access to the new site will be from Back Lane and Baileywood Lane.
