Snipers make it a double!

Snaith Snipers completed a cup double at the end of April by winning the Selby and District Champions League trophy.

In a two-week round robin format, the Snipers defeated Altofts in their first match, however, couldn’t repeat the performance in their second match – suffering a heavy 4-0 defeat to Collingham.

After a week break for Easter, the Snipers knew that anything but victory in their first match against Collingham would spell the end of their hopes of lifting the trophy. After a great game, the Snipers managed to come away with a deserved 1-0 victory thanks to a wonder strike by Tyler.

The Snipers went into the final match with it all to play for against Altofts. A tense game finished in a 3-3 draw, meaning the Snipers were champions.

Team manager David South said ‘We’re so proud of the kids, after the heavy defeat by Collingham in the first week it looked unlikely that we’d be the ones to take the trophy but the thing about this bunch is that they never give up and it just goes to show what you can achieve with the right attitude and determination.’

The Snipers will now take part in a series of Summer tournaments.
