The British Heart Foundation (BHF) is looking for volunteers to take on the Collection Tin Volunteer Role in their local communities.

Around 42,300 people across the East Riding of Yorkshire are fighting a daily battle with heart and circulatory disease. Each year these devastating conditions claim the lives of more than 1048 people in the East Riding alone.

The BHF is calling people in Goole to take heart and join the volunteer team to keep hearts beating and blood flowing by becoming a Collection Tin Volunteer and raising vital funds for heart research. The Collection Tin Volunteer Role has an easy to follow process, tins are collected and banked four times a year, so your volunteering can work around you and you have support from your local Fundraising Manager Nicola Jones.

Nicola Jones, BHF Fundraising Manager for South and East Yorkshire said: “Heart disease is heartless. Heart and circulatory diseases kill 1 in 4 mums, dads, daughters, sons, grandparents and friends. But with your help, support, time and dedication the BHF’s lifesaving research can change this.

“By supporting the BHF as a Collection Tin Volunteer you will be helping us fund the research that’s so desperately needed to bring us closer to beating heart and circulatory disease. We are incredible proud to have 6 research projects currently funded at the University of Hull and together we can save more lives.”

BHF research has helped halve death rates from heart and circulatory disease over the past 50 years, but there is still a long way to go. Through the public’s generosity the BHF will fund half a billion pounds of new research over the next five years.
