Zolsha curries favour with award recognition

A well-loved Indian restaurant in Howden has been selected as a finalist in the prestigious English Curry Awards 2018. Zolsha has been recognised in the Most Wanted Restaurant of the Year category for the Yorkshire & Humber region.

Now in its eighth year, the English Curry Awards celebrate and acknowledge restaurants around the country at the biggest and most prolific curry event of the year.

Zolsha has been an integral part of Howden’s eating-out scene for almost a decade now, welcoming customers who enjoy authentic Indian cuisine in a relaxed atmosphere. The menu is also available as a takeaway, so that local curry lovers can enjoy food bursting with flavour in the comfort of their homes.

Importantly, Zolsha has been recognised not only for the quality of its food and hospitality, but also for its charity work within the community.

Zolsha manager Ash Ahmed told Our Goole that Zolsha has helped local charitable causes such as Howden AFC, Goole Netball raising money for a local cancer charity, and Bubwith Charity Night which raised money for Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

The team at Zolsha has also worked with local school children, helping them learn about different cultures by cooking their own curry dish working with the spices used in the restaurant. The restaurant is also committed to helping the homeless by packaging up food left over from the Sunday buffet and delivering it to those in need.

Ash Ahmed said: “I am so proud of the team here at Zolsha for all their hard work. To be selected as finalists at the English Curry awards is an amazing honour and fantastic recognition for everyone’s hard work.”
